Take Action for Palestine by Promoting Palestinian Voices
In light of the most recent events in Sheikh Jarrah, Jerusalem and in Gaza, you might be wondering where you can find reliable information about the Israeli occupation of Palestine. This is why we have compiled sources that we find helpful with a focus on Palestinian voices and perspectives, which too often get lost in much of our media coverage.
Many media outlets use language that perpetuates a harmful narrative.
Clashes, conflict, war, both sides: suggests that Israelis and Palestinians are opposing each other on an equal footing, with equal armies and equal access to resources. These terms undermine that Israel is a settler colonial power with a well equipped and US funded military.
Riots: suggest citizens are rising up against their state, instead of their occupier and their struggle for liberation.
Hamas, terror, Islamist: focuses on violence employed by Palestinians as violent instigators and undermines the structural violence Israel uses to oppress Palestinians on a daily basis and disregards the right to armed resistance.
This selection aims to provide sources that offer different voices and more comprehensive and contextualized information.
